+ No longer trading (23/05/2011 - 15:23:28)
Ecography Limited is no longer trading. We would like to thank our previous customers for their business, and regret to have to advise you that InkSaver 2.0 is no longer available for sale and support is no longer available either from Ecography or the Developers.
When installing software users frequently accept the terms and conditions of a software license, just by checking a box during the installation process without actually reading, or understanding, what can be a complex and legal document. Essentially it’s the small print on a contract between the software developer and the end user that allows the user to use the software, they never actually purchase the software just a license to use it. Let’s look at a couple of typical clauses: The software license will terminate automatically should you destroy the software and all copies of the software (including the hard disk copy and any back up copy) and its documentation in your possession; This means that if a user has had to reformat their hard drive, and does not have a back up copy of the software (either a copy of the original download file or a CD) then they have terminated their license. Under these circumstances there is no entitlement to revisit the suppliers website and re-download the software, so it is important that you protect your investment in software by having a back up copy in case you need to reinstall the software.
The software is supplied AS IS AND WITH ALL FAULTS and without representation, warranty or condition of any kind.
This means that the present version of the software, only, is supplied. There is no commitment to upgrade the software or fix bugs. You can, of course, protect yourself against software that does not meet your requirements by taking advantage of any free trial that is offered.
Different vendors have different licenses so there may also be other clauses that you need to be aware of, that is why you should not only evaluate the software but also review the software license during the trial period.
Low cost ink cartridges help save you money whatever computer you are using, and whatever operating system. So they work with Windows® 7, Linux®, and Apple® Mac. They will even save you money if you are printing directly from a memory card from your camera or another device such as a mobile phone or a tablet computer. > More
We are no longer distributing InkSaver because the continuing lack of a version compatible with Windows 7.
It is with regret that we have been forced to decide that without support for Windows 7 InkSaver is not a viable product. We recommend that to save money on printer ink, whatever operating system - or device - you are using, you should use remanufactured printer cartridges, and recommend Internet-Ink for the quality of both their product and service. > More
We have withdrawn our recommendation for PhotoBox because of poor service received, and feedback from others. We would now advise an alternative supplier and know that major supermarkets often provide a similar facility via their websites.
Save money on printer ink by buying online and having it delivered to your door the next working day. You can chose to purchase printer manufacturer's cartridges at significantly less than high street prices (ink cartridges are never loss leaders) or remanufactured cartridges (helping to avoid landfill and being more environmentally friendly). Either way you reduce the cost and environmental impact of your printing without losing print quality. To order the ink cartridges of your choice, and save money, buy from Internet-Ink. > More
Ecography is pleased to be affiliated to Internet-Ink the UK`s leading ink cartridge supplier.
Unlike most other cartridge resellers, Internet-Ink manufactures their own products, as well as selling printer manufacturer's original cartridges.
We benchmarked a number of internet based vendors of printer cartridges, searching for a range of printer cartridges (including some for long discontinued printers) taking note of how easy it was to find the cartridges we were searching for. The result was that we believe Internet-Ink to offer the best range of product, from the easiest to navigate website, with fast delivery, and we are pleased to recommend them. > More.
We have just carried out a major update to the website that is intended to improve navigation as we seek to add new products in the near future (more on that later). At the same time we have made change to the contact forms on the website as a result of changes made by our ISP to improve the user experience of forms. We trust that the change will meet with your approval. If not, please use the Contact Us form to let us know. You can find it here.
I was interested to see a report of an article in the journal of Chemical And Engineering News which states that "Used white office paper is . . . increasingly hard to find and much more costly thanks to the growth in electronic communications". The problem being that because less paper is being used, less is being recycled, and so there is a shortage of paper suitable for making soft toilet tissue. While we stand by our mission of helping to make printing more environmentally friendly it seems there are limits!
Thanks to changes made by our ISP we are now able to add more features to the Ecography website.
As a result of this we have renamed all of the pages, so if you have previously saved a page as a favourite and now get a Server Error 404 - File or Directory not found please accept my apologies. It is hoped that the changes will make us more easily found by search engines.
Also the new features allow us to display the Latest Blog Posts on any page within the site. This will be the new vehicle for Ecography News, so the main content of the News page will now be to publish the User Poll Results.
Remanufactured ink cartridges are sold as money savers, but that’s only part of the story, they are also better for the environment. If you re-use your cartridges and throw them away less often then fewer cartridges to landfill or incineration, both of which are bad for the environment. A powerful message, and one that will become increasingly relevant, even after the recession/depression/credit crunch that is affecting us all. Once the economy bounces back we will still have the environmental issues, they haven’t gone away.
I was in a hurry yesterday. I needed to print an urgent document and my black cartridge needed replacing. So I changed the colour of the text to Gray-80% and it printed fine. This wasn’t an attempt to reduce my ink consumption by 20%; it was done in full knowledge of how an ink jet printer works. Grey is a composite colour, it is printed using the 3 colours in the colour cartridge, unlike black that has it’s own cartridge. Grey is not an ink-saved black; in fact using a grey uses more ink, as you have to set down cyan, yellow & magenta. Not as much as you would need to set down to achieve a black (you can achieve a black using the colour cartridge but it is not a pure black, more of a very, very, dark brown). Black is a frequently used colour, especially for text documents, so the vast majority of colour printers are provided with a separate black cartridge, some ink jet printers have more than one, and equally some also have light cyan and light magenta to give a wider range of hues for photo printing. But the lesson here is, you can’t save ink by setting your black text to grey, your printer doesn’t work like that, but it is a useful; quick workaround.
There are features within most printer drivers that are designed to help save paper these can be accessed by selecting the Properties button on the print dialog that opens when you send a document to print. They may be hidden on a different tab and therefore not immediately obvious, but you should find the option to print on both sides of the paper and to print multiple pages on a single page.
Printing on both sides of the paper (also known as two-sided or duplex printing) is an option on many laser printers. While most ink jet printers only print on one side it is possible to print on both sides of the paper, and many printer drivers allow this, it’s often referred to as manual duplex because the printer will print (say) the odd-numbered pages first and then you will be prompted to put the pages back in the printer the other side up for the even pages to be printed. There is likely to be instructions on how to do this available either within the Printer Properties dialog or in the printer Help files or documentation.
Printing multiple, logical, pages on a single physical page is usually termed N-Up, where N is the number of logical pages you want to print onto a single page of paper. It’s usually 2, 3 or 4, and can be more. As the number goes up the size of the page image goes down so it may not be as legible. This type of facility is offered by the Windows Photo Printing Wizard (up to 35-up!) and in Microsoft PowerPoint for printing presentation handouts. Using the printer driver facility you can extend it to other documents as well. This will save you paper.
You can combine both duplex and N-Up to print a booklet, and some printer drivers offer that facility too. This lets the printer driver take care of printing the pages in the right order for when you assemble your booklet.
ecography promotes products that help to make printing more environmentally (and therefore ecologically) friendly at the same time as making it more affordable (and therefore economic) and improving print quality.
